The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria has conferred the title of Sarauniyar Matasan Arewa, on the Bauchi State First Lady, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, in recognition of her contributions to humanitarian services and youth development.
The award was presented by the President of the Association, Comrade Godiya T. Adams, during the Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award ceremony held at the Government House, Bauchi.
Speaking at the occasion, Comrade Adams Godiya said the Association was honouring Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed for her exemplary integrity, inspirational leadership, and dedication to advancing the well-being of people across the North-East and Nigeria at large.
He described the First Lady as a woman who has distinguished herself in nation-building, community development, educational advancement, quality assurance, and mentorship.
According to him, her humility, professionalism, and fairness have remained evident in both her public and private engagements.
The NYAN President added that the Association remains committed to supporting young people through skill acquisition programmes and awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse and other social vices.
In her remarks, the Bauchi First Lady Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that being associated with the name and legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, was a privilege and a reminder of the responsibilities of leadership.
She acknowledged the role of dedicated teams and volunteers who implement her humanitarian programmes, especially those reaching vulnerable groups across communities.
Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed also appreciated her husband, the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir, for his continuous support and encouragement.
She described the honour as deeply meaningful, saying it reinforces the expectations placed on her by youth and women across the region.
The First Lady highlighted efforts under her initiatives, including women empowerment, girl-child education, maternal health support, care for orphans, and other humanitarian interventions, noting that although many lives have been touched, much more remains to be done.
Dr. Aisha expressed appreciation to the Association for the award and urged them to intensify efforts in enlightening the youth to become self-reliant after graduation and productive members of society.
