Bauchi State Assembly Urges Residents to Sustain Peace

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has congratulated Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed on his 68th birthday, calling on residents of the state to maintain peace, mutual understanding and support for the administration.

The congratulatory message, by the Speaker of the Assembly, Dr Abubakar Y. Suleiman, said the occasion provides an opportunity to acknowledge some of the administration’s programmes and projects across key sectors of the state.

The Assembly highlighted interventions in the health sector, saying more than 204 primary healthcare centres and general hospitals have been renovated across the state, with health institutions also receiving facilities and equipment.

On education, the Assembly said the administration has supported students by paying registration fees for WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and UTME for eligible candidates who passed the required mock examinations, in addition to committing resources to the education sector.

The Bauchi State Assembly also noted measures in the security sector, including the provision of patrol vehicles, payment of allowances and support for security personnel, as well as the approval of promotions and other incentives for deserving officers.

In agriculture, the Assembly said the government has procured subsidised NPK fertiliser, established farm input centres and provided training on modern farming methods.

It also cited the recruitment of additional agricultural extension officers and support for farmers through various intervention programmes.

According to the Assembly, the administration has also distributed 156 commercial buses and 1,500 tricycles, alongside micro-grants to petty traders as part of efforts to support transportation and small-scale businesses.

The Assembly further commended the administration’s interventions in the traditional institution, including the construction and renovation of palaces, creation of new emirates and districts, and upgrading of some traditional institutions.

On infrastructure, the lawmakers said all 20 Local Government Areas of the state have benefited from road construction, expansion or rehabilitation, with drainage systems incorporated into many of the projects.

They added that streetlights have also been installed along selected roads to improve security, transportation and commercial activities.

The Assembly also noted the administration’s position on local government, legislative and judicial autonomy, saying such measures are aimed at strengthening governance and service delivery.

The lawmakers prayed for continued guidance, protection, wisdom and blessings for Governor Bala Mohammed as he marks his 68th birthday, while wishing him success in his service to the people of Bauchi State.
