Gov Bala Mohammed urges Nigerian leaders to emulate Tafawa Balewa’s patriotism

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has called on Nigerian leaders to demonstrate patriotism and place the interest of the nation above personal considerations.
The Governor made the call during an event organised in Bauchi to commemorate the late Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, at the International Conference Centre.
Represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Ilyasu Aliyu Gital, Governor Bala Mohammed said Nigerian leaders should emulate the sacrifices and commitment of the country’s past heroes who contributed to the struggle for national sovereignty and development.
He said the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa demonstrated exemplary leadership, patriotism and commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria, describing these virtues as reasons for the annual special recognition in his honour.
Also speaking, the former Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere and communication expert, Professor Umaru Pate, highlighted the contributions of the late Prime Minister to peace, fairness and good governance.
Professor Umaru Pate urged contemporary leaders to draw lessons from Tafawa Balewa’s leadership qualities and apply them in addressing the country’s current challenges.
In his remarks, the Bauchi State APM governorship candidate, Dr Yakubu Adamu, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Mahmoud Baba Ma’aji Abubakar, called on Nigerian youths to promote national unity and contribute to the development of the country.
Speaking on his book, The Life of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa: Ten Years After, the author, Falakin Dass, Alhaji Danlami Baban Takko, urged Nigerian youths to embrace hard work and contribute to efforts aimed at rebuilding the nation.
