UBEC commissions Digital learning Centre in Alkaleri.

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commissioned a fully equipped Digital Learning Centre at Junior Vocational Secondary School, Bayan Banki, in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The project, implemented under the leadership of UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, is aimed at bridging the digital divide and equipping students with relevant skills for effective participation in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The facility was formally commissioned by the Executive Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Alhaji Bappa Mohammed Aliyu, who was represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Director of Education and Social Development, Comrade Umar Adamu Duguri.
Speaking at the occasion, the UBEC Zonal Director for the North-East, Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu who represented the Executive Secretary, said the initiative was designed to provide students with essential 21st-century digital skills and improve access to technology-based learning.
He commended the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for its efforts in ensuring that the state benefited from the intervention.
Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu also called on the school management and members of the community to take ownership of the facility and protect the equipment to ensure its sustainability and continued benefit to students.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Alkaleri LGA, through his representative, Comrade Umar Adamu Duguri, assured that the council would prioritise the security of the school and the newly installed digital equipment.
He said the local government would deploy additional security personnel to protect students, staff and the technological facilities, while also sustaining interventions aimed at routine maintenance of the centre.
Stakeholders at the commissioning further appealed to governments at all levels to provide adequate classroom furniture, particularly seats, to complement the new digital learning facility and create a more conducive teaching and learning environment.
The ceremony was attended by education officials, traditional and community leaders, school management, members of the School-Based Management Committee and residents of Bayan Banki, among others.
