Wikki Tourists and Katsina United shared the spoils in a dramatic 4–4 draw in their NPFL26 clash at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, a match defined by goals, controversy, interruptions..
The encounter, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, 8 February, started brightly with Jonathan Mairiga giving Wikki Tourists an early lead in the 5th minute, finishing confidently after an assist from Ibrahim Shuaibu. Katsina United responded in the 20th minute, when Uche Collins curled home a free kick to restore parity.
Wikki went back in front in the 27th minute as Nasiru Jibrin calmly converted from the penalty spot. However, Katsina refused to fade, and in the 35th minute, a misjudged back pass by Wikki defender Haruna Aliyu allowed Collins to score his second goal, making it 2–2.
The second half followed the same frenetic pattern. Ibrahim Shuaibu, again assisted by Mairiga, put Wikki ahead in the 53rd minute. Katsina’s response came in controversial circumstances in the 62nd minute. Wikki players and fans believed play should have stopped for fair play, but Katsina quickly took a throw-in, and Uche Collins completed his hat-trick, leveling the score at 3–3.
Play was eventually halted in the 78th minute due to crowd disturbance, poor visibility, and encroaching darkness, forcing the match to be postponed.
The remaining minutes were concluded on Monday, 9 February 2026. Wikki appeared to have secured all three points when Jonathan Mairiga struck again in the 84th minute to clinch 4–3. While, Katsina United snatched a dramatic equaliser in the 88th minute when Wikki midfielder Isa ibrahim Ndala inadvertently turned a back pass into his own net, sealing a 4–4 draw and underlining Wikki’s costly defensive lapses and lack of concentration.
Despite his outstanding performance, Uche Collins was later sent off after receiving a second yellow card, bringing an end to a memorable but turbulent outing for the Katsina forward.
