Gamawa Emirate Inaugurates Zakat, Waqf Committee

Gamawa Emirate has inaugurated guidelines on Zakat, Waqf and Conflict Resolution Committee.

At the inauguration ceremony held in Gamawa, the Chairman of the Zakat and Waqf Committee, Professor Muhammad Babangida Muhammad, and the Sarkin Malaman Gamawa, Aliyu Muhammad Sa’id, said the guidelines would assist the Zakat Committee and Hisbah in the collection and distribution of Zakat, resolving issues amicably and discharging their duties diligently.

They said the guidelines would also enable the committees to swing into action as the harvest season sets in.

They stressed the need for district heads to put extra effort into the collection and distribution of Zakat in their various domains.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Zakat, Malam Yakubu Abubakar Gero, and the Commissioner of Hisbah, Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa, represented by Muhammad Muhammad Bununu, explained that the guidelines were in conformity with those of the State Shariah Commission and commended the effort of the Gamawa Emirate.

They urged the Emirate to give more priority to Waqf, saying that people do not know much about Waqf, which could help reduce dependence on government.

They also urged other Emirates to emulate Gamawa Emirate in Shariah-related activities.

Inaugurating the committee, the Chairman of the Bauchi State Shariah Commission, Professor Hamisu Yau Dass, represented by the Commissioner for Enlightenment, Malam Abdulrahman Ibrahim Khalil, described the guidelines as a welcome development, adding that it would add value to the Shariah legal system of the state.

The Emir of Gamawa, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Adamu, pledged his continued support for Islamic activities and urged his kinsmen and people of his domain to embrace the policies.
