The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, towards improving access to and the quality of basic education across the state.
Permanent Commissioner II of SUBEB, Alhaji Idris Ahmed Hardawa, made the commitment when he received the newly inaugurated executive members of FOMWAN, Bauchi State Chapter, who paid a courtesy visit to the Board’s headquarters.
Hardawa said the Board was prepared to partner with organisations and stakeholders whose programmes and objectives support the government’s efforts to strengthen basic education and improve educational outcomes in the state.
He explained that SUBEB was established to work closely with relevant stakeholders and development partners in ensuring effective delivery of quality basic education, adding that the visit by FOMWAN was timely as the Board continued to seek strategic partnerships that would complement government efforts in the education sector.
The Permanent Commissioner assured the delegation of the Board’s support and willingness to explore areas of collaboration that would contribute to the growth and development of education in Bauchi State.
He commended FOMWAN for recognising the importance of SUBEB as a key stakeholder in educational development and congratulated the newly inaugurated executives on their emergence.
Hardawa urged the new leadership to discharge its responsibilities with dedication, transparency and commitment, while working towards achieving the objectives of the association.
Earlier, the Ameerah of FOMWAN, Bauchi State Chapter, Hajiya Lami Umar Hassan, said the visit was primarily aimed at seeking the collaboration and support of SUBEB towards improving the condition of schools established and managed by the association across the state.
She explained that FOMWAN was established at the national level in 1985 and commenced its activities in Bauchi State in 1986, with a mandate to promote Da’awah, empower and support women and children, as well as contribute to community development.
According to her, FOMWAN currently operates more than 20 nursery, primary and secondary schools spread across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.
Hajiya Lami, however, identified three of the association’s schools located within Bauchi metropolis as requiring urgent intervention, particularly in the areas of renovation, provision of teaching and learning materials and deployment of qualified teachers.
She said FOMWAN’s programmes were anchored in four major areas:- education, health, Da’awah and humanitarian services through which the organisation continues to contribute to the welfare and development of communities across the state.
The Ameerah expressed optimism that stronger collaboration with SUBEB would help address some of the challenges confronting the association’s schools and further enhance the quality of education provided to children in the state.
