Legislative autonomy: Bauchi Speaker intensify efforts

The speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly Babayo Muhammad Akuyam says granting of autonomy to State Houses of Assembly’s in the Country will go a long way in strengthening the nation’s democracy.

To this end, he said, the state house of has constituted a committee that would go round states of the federation to gather stakeholders inputs to ensure full implementation of the legislative autonomy.

The Speaker stated this at the inauguration ceremony of new elected officials of Parliamentary Staff Association on Nigerian at the state assembly premises.

Earlier, the North East vice President Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigerian Comrade Isyaka Jibrin Vital explained that granting of autonomy to the legislature would further reinforce the doctrine of checks and balances and spread of dividends of democracy to the nooks and crannies of the Country.

Isyaka Gital who disclosed that the 10th state assembly has been people- oriented in its legislative activities, since its inception in June last year, assured to continue pushing for the full implementation of the autonomy.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman PASAN Bauchi State chapter Comrade Adamu Yusuf while thanking members of the association for giving him chance lead them, commended the speaker Babayo Muhammad Akuyam for his concern to the plights of the state assembly staff.
