Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed said the central focus of his administration is the restoration of the lost glory of public education in the state by holistically addressing human resource gaps in the sector.


The Governor made this known while declaring open, a 2-day Education Summit with the theme “Nurturing a Flourishing Future: Improving Access and Quality Education in Bauchi State held at Sultan Saad Abubakar, Hajj Camp Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed explained that the Bauchi State Education Summit centre’s on effectively addressing the issues unique to the state with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the state of education including the number of out-of-school children, their demographics, and the impact on education due to various challenges

He said the summit is among others things seek active involvement of all stakeholders by increasing awareness and mobilizing their support in an efforts to enhance the education sector by targeting interventions.

He reassured that the present administration is committed to improving the wellbeing of its citizens and accelerating the socio-economic development of the State through the provision of quality education for its children and youth that would enable them to be effective individuals and leaders of tomorrow.

The Governor said his administration’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and progressive educational system has been unwavering and announced a progressive increase in budgetary allocation to education and added that the administration’s commitment to ensuring quality education also extended to the accreditation of courses in tertiary institutions.

He said on its part, the state government has repositioned the Ministry of Education to meet the challenges of the 21st Century through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which includes basic online access to exam results, admissions, scholarships, and other essential services, fostering transparency and equitable access to information and has deployed technology to ensure efficiency and effective management in our systems of operation.

Governor Bala Mohammed noted that the introduction of single-gender schools and upgrading of adult and non-formal centers to pave way for second chance education have proven effective in ensuring equitable access, combating delinquency, enhancing academic performance, and restoring confidence in public education among parents in the state.

In a keynote address, the Minister of state for Education, Yusuf Sanunu, applauded the foresight of the Bauchi state government for coming up with the educational summit and assured of the support of the federal government towards achieving the set objectives.

The minister said the 8 point educational agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has included efforts to improve access to quality education as part of unwavering commitment to addressing national challenges.
