The State House of Assembly has urged the State Government as a matter of urgency and public interest to rehabilitate the dilapidated media organizations in the state.
The Assembly made the call during plenary, saying the deplorable state of the state’s owned media organizations are alarming.
Moving the motion on the floor of the house, the member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency, Bala Abdullahi Bala explained that media organizations don’t serve the needs of the people in the state.
Bala Dan urged the executive arm of government to focus attention on the dilapidation condition of the state-owned media organizations, Bauchi State Television (BATV), Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and other Local government FM Radio stations across the state.
He lamented that the media organizations are operating with a large number of casual staff.
The lawmaker added that the media organizations would provide adequate awareness on health related campaigns, climate change among other issues to the benefits of the citizens.
Contributing to the motion, member representing Chiroma constituency Yahaya Ahmed Maikudi described the state of media organizations as dilapidated and death organizations.
In his ruling, the Speaker Babayo Mohammmed Akuyam directed the Clerk of the house to transmit the same to the executive arm of the state government.
