Bauchi Ministry of education expresses worry over the high number of unregistered private schools in the state.

Bauchi State Commissioner Ministry of education Dr Jamila Dahiru has expressed worry over the high number of unregistered private schools in the state.

According to her, the total number of registered schools in the state is one thousand one hundred and two and said henceforth private schools will be operating five kilometres away from one another.

Dr Jamila Dahira stated these during a round table meeting with private schools Proprietors aimed at addressing challenges and review the success recorded for the progress of education in the state held at GCDSS, Bauchi

She said the importance of private schools towards complementing the educational needs of students cannot be over emphasised and called for collaboration with her ministries in order to achieve the set objectives

The commissioner asked the proprietors to pay their dues as at when due and ensure they operate based on stipulated rules and regulations of establishing private schools towards providing their students with qualitative knowledge and good moral conduct.

In their contributions, the proprietors outline some of the challenges facing their smooth operations to include non payment of school fees by parents and guardians.

They advised the state government to support their activities to enable them operate effectively and lamented over high charges from government agencies and advised for a centralised channel of payment to avoid multiple taxation.
