The state first lady Dr Aisha Bala Muhammad has described gender violence as a serious challenge confronting the state and the country in general.
Dr Aisha Bala Muhammad made the assertion at the closing of the sixteenth days activisim of the year twenty twenty three held at the Banquet hall Government House Bauchi.
She said women have a role to play in mobilizing, creating awareness and sensitizing fellow women in the communities to support the government in it’s efforts towards the menace the society.
The first lady stressed the need for all to work round the clock and to be more proactive and responsive towards ensuring violence free society.
Aisha Bala added that According to the Theme for this year all hands must be on deck to intensify awareness while the Government is doing it’s best to ensure that the rights of women and Girls are respected and protected.
She noted that since the inception of the State Action commeette on sexual and Gender Based Violence, the following achievements have so far been recorded in the fight against GBV in Bauchi State.
The Sexual Assault Referral Center was established at the specialist hospital Bauchi, the center provides free and confidential medical services to survivors of GBV in line with standard operational procedure.
She also said shelter, Safe space was completed, furnished and equipped at the sani Abacha rehabilitation center Bauchi that provides a temporary home to survivors of GVB and committee provides Family economic strengthening and psychosocial support to survivors of GBV and others assistance.
In their good will message representatives of partners Pro Health project, plan international in tackling the menace among the society hence the need to put hands together and commended the first lady for her tireless effort towards assisting the survivors and the awareness on GBV across the state.
In his contribution at the closing ceremony member state house of Assembly representing Madara Chinade constituency and Chairman house committee on education Dr Nasiru Muhammad Ala commended the first lady for her effort in eradicating GBV, promised that on their part at Assembly they will ensure the passage of the bill on children and women Right act in the state.
Dr Nasiru Ala called on the communities leaders and Religion leaders to sensitizing their followers avaid any violence against women and children.
