BASEPA pledges to promote community self services.

Bauchi state Environmental and Sanitation Protection Agency says it will assist any community that engage on community sanitation with working tools and personal protective equipment’s for optimum performance.

The State Director General state of the agency Dr. Mahmud Mohammed Bose made the pledge when he visited Tirwun and Dawaki communities on a special sanitation exercise.

Dr. Mahmud Bose said BASEPA is currently transforming the sanitation exercise through community sanitation and participation by engaging community leaders in desilting drainages through community driven sanitation.

He commended the two communities for actively participating in desilting drainages and cleaning their communities which will improve the living hygiene of the areas and urged others to emulate.

He also called on development partners on environment to join hands with BASEPA in order to achieve successes of maintaining a healthy society.

Also speaking, the chairman Tirwun traders and artisans association Salisu Ibrahim and chairman Dawaki Youth progressive Association Mohammed Suleiman thanked BASEPA for encouraging them in conducting the sanitation in their areas.

They called for the provision of working tools such as rain boots, hand gloves, wheel barrows as well as digger and shovels so as to improve their performance.

In his contribution, the senior program officer USAID Breakthrough Action Nigeria Mr Victor Enangama said they are partners in promoting community lead sanitation that improve hygiene.

He said USAID Breakthrough Action Nigeria have adopted the two communities of Dawaki and Tirwun for the next six months so as to improve on their Environmental hygiene.

In a vote of thanks, the village Head of Unguwar Turaki Turun Malam Adamu Abubakar and that of Dawaki north malam Salisu Abubakar pledged to continue mobilizing their subjects on the importance of sanitizing their communities.
